Description

Tiger said in his press conference on Tuesday at the 2015 Phoenix Open, that he is having a lot more fun now because his clubhead speed is back! In the new video, I'll show a great new look to Tigers backswing and I'll show you how it mirrors the RST model swing almost perfectly. We knew that if Tiger wanted his speed back that he must get into a much more vertical position at the top of his swing. This will hopefully save his body in the downswing and keep him healthy for the 2015 season.

Video Practice Points
  • Lower body stability
  • Hands and arms more into vertical position
  • More speed with less work
WEBVTT 1 00:00:06.320 --> 00:00:08.980 okay rotary spin golfers this is RST 2 00:00:08.980 --> 00:00:10.980 instructor Chris Tyler giving you a 3 00:00:10.980 --> 00:00:13.119 second look at Tiger's newly built golf 4 00:00:13.119 --> 00:00:15.080 swing and I got great news for you guys 5 00:00:15.080 --> 00:00:16.579 it looks like he's getting back into 6 00:00:16.579 --> 00:00:19.260 almost a full RST form of the swing I 7 00:00:19.820 --> 00:00:21.480 know in the the previous years when we 8 00:00:21.480 --> 00:00:22.620 were starting to look at his golf swing 9 00:00:22.620 --> 00:00:24.120 we started to see a little bit flatter 10 00:00:24.120 --> 00:00:25.480 and a little bit deeper of a position 11 00:00:25.480 --> 00:00:27.140 with his hands and his arms at the top of 12 00:00:27.140 --> 00:00:30.239 the swing and he openly spoke about his 13 00:00:30.239 --> 00:00:31.940 his speed coming back in his press 14 00:00:31.940 --> 00:00:33.799 conference yesterday and it's going to be 15 00:00:33.799 --> 00:00:36.100 attributed to a really good solid 16 00:00:36.100 --> 00:00:37.920 position at the top of his backswing so 17 00:00:37.920 --> 00:00:39.560 this is going to be our second look at 18 00:00:39.560 --> 00:00:41.100 his new move here and I've got a model 19 00:00:41.100 --> 00:00:42.460 swing over here on the right hand side of 20 00:00:42.460 --> 00:00:44.460 the screen so you can really see how it's 21 00:00:44.460 --> 00:00:46.159 very similar to what we're doing here at 22 00:00:46.159 --> 00:00:48.299 RST so I'm gonna go ahead and work Tiger 23 00:00:48.299 --> 00:00:49.560 into the takeaway here we're gonna look 24 00:00:49.560 --> 00:00:52.200 at some of the similarities there's a 25 00:00:52.200 --> 00:00:55.859 completed takeaway model swing wise this 26 00:00:55.859 --> 00:00:57.899 is of Chuck Quinton the founder of rotary 27 00:00:57.899 --> 00:01:00.700 swing okay so a couple of key points to 28 00:01:00.700 --> 00:01:03.119 take a look at if you look at where the 29 00:01:03.119 --> 00:01:04.540 club head is in line with the hands 30 00:01:04.540 --> 00:01:07.159 elevation point is pretty much spot on 31 00:01:07.159 --> 00:01:09.659 also notice lower body lower body looks 32 00:01:09.659 --> 00:01:11.659 very very stable at this point you can 33 00:01:11.659 --> 00:01:13.760 see that left leg starting to move just a 34 00:01:13.760 --> 00:01:15.980 fraction hips have rotated maybe five 35 00:01:15.980 --> 00:01:19.040 degrees or so the Tigers always had a ton 36 00:01:19.040 --> 00:01:21.379 of lower body stability and this is a 37 00:01:21.379 --> 00:01:22.939 really critical move for your golfers at 38 00:01:22.939 --> 00:01:24.260 home that have always noticed that you're 39 00:01:24.260 --> 00:01:26.780 seeing too much of your lead leg into the 40 00:01:26.780 --> 00:01:28.340 takeaway that's really going to show you 41 00:01:28.340 --> 00:01:30.420 that there's some pelvic instability so 42 00:01:30.420 --> 00:01:31.980 double check to make sure that you're 43 00:01:31.980 --> 00:01:34.319 loading up your trail side properly and 44 00:01:34.319 --> 00:01:35.879 then from this particular move right here 45 00:01:35.879 --> 00:01:37.760 you're gonna see he moves his hands and 46 00:01:37.760 --> 00:01:39.560 arms much more into the vertical plane 47 00:01:39.560 --> 00:01:42.159 over the right shoulder and gets into a 48 00:01:42.159 --> 00:01:44.400 beautiful spot okay this right elbow is 49 00:01:44.400 --> 00:01:45.459 much higher than what we've been 50 00:01:45.459 --> 00:01:47.060 accustomed to seeing you can see his 51 00:01:47.060 --> 00:01:49.359 hands are up above the right shoulder and 52 00:01:49.359 --> 00:01:50.920 from a model swing perspective you're 53 00:01:50.920 --> 00:01:52.560 gonna see the exact same kind of move 54 00:01:52.560 --> 00:01:54.700 here okay so you're gonna see a very 55 00:01:54.700 --> 00:01:56.439 similar position right elbow in line with 56 00:01:56.439 --> 00:01:58.819 the body using the base of the the 57 00:01:58.819 --> 00:02:00.579 pectoral muscle there to be the kind of 58 00:02:00.579 --> 00:02:01.859 the elevation point that we're looking 59 00:02:01.859 --> 00:02:03.939 for and the hands up above the right 60 00:02:03.939 --> 00:02:06.760 shoulder so a very very solid position to 61 00:02:06.760 --> 00:02:08.560 start to work down from this is a 62 00:02:08.560 --> 00:02:09.819 position that Tiger is not going to 63 00:02:09.819 --> 00:02:12.240 really have to spin his his lower body 64 00:02:12.240 --> 00:02:14.520 really hard to get out of the way and we 65 00:02:14.520 --> 00:02:15.939 were seeing that and then we were also 66 00:02:15.939 --> 00:02:17.639 noticing that he would have to steepen 67 00:02:17.639 --> 00:02:20.000 his shoulder plane post impact to help 68 00:02:20.000 --> 00:02:21.340 hold the hands and arms out in front of 69 00:02:21.340 --> 00:02:23.159 him so we're really pleased to see this 70 00:02:23.159 --> 00:02:24.800 we're really thinking that Tiger is gonna 71 00:02:24.800 --> 00:02:26.340 do some great damage with this golf swing 72 00:02:26.340 --> 00:02:28.199 and it's certainly exciting to see his 73 00:02:28.199 --> 00:02:30.539 speed come back as well so a couple of 74 00:02:30.539 --> 00:02:32.500 good videos for you guys to check out is 75 00:02:32.500 --> 00:02:34.240 five minutes to a perfect backswing 76 00:02:34.240 --> 00:02:35.599 that's a great video that's going to show 77 00:02:35.599 --> 00:02:37.479 you how to create the same sort of swing 78 00:02:37.479 --> 00:02:38.979 shape just like we're seeing from a model 79 00:02:38.979 --> 00:02:41.199 swing where you either look like Chuck or 80 00:02:41.199 --> 00:02:43.379 Tiger at the top of the move and we also 81 00:02:43.379 --> 00:02:44.780 have five minutes to a perfect backswing 82 00:02:44.780 --> 00:02:47.300 checkpoints video we also have a pool 83 00:02:47.300 --> 00:02:48.780 noodle shoulder elevation video that's 84 00:02:48.780 --> 00:02:50.000 going to talk to you about proper 85 00:02:50.000 --> 00:02:51.479 shoulder elevation and give you a couple 86 00:02:51.479 --> 00:02:53.240 of key checkpoints so I'm going to put 87 00:02:53.240 --> 00:02:54.740 those videos over to the right hand side 88 00:02:54.740 --> 00:02:56.340 of the video player for you guys and 89 00:02:56.340 --> 00:02:57.360 again I just wanted to give you guys 90 00:02:57.360 --> 00:02:59.599 another second look here at Tiger's new 91 00:02:59.599 --> 00:03:02.379 RST look we're excited to see it and now 92 00:03:02.379 --> 00:03:03.639 let's get out there and put the speed and 93 00:03:03.639 --> 00:03:04.900 the power back into your golf swings as 94 00:03:04.900 --> 00:03:05.939 well make it a great day
